Position Description

A partner of the OptumCare network, WellMed Medical Group (WMG) is seeking a Nocturnist to join our team Monday - Thursday in Austin, TX.  We are transforming healthcare nationally while providing Physician-led care locally.  Start doing your life’s best work with the largest care delivery organization in the world.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Practice includes extended hours outpatient clinic and hospital admissions and call as a part of a comprehensive health care team
  • Only follow patients from a single payor system
  • 100% of patients will have a WMG primary care provider
  • “Quality vs. Quantity Model” - Typical clinic census is 6 patients with 1 to 2 admissions a night 
  • Patient panel is limited to geriatrics with Medicare Advantage coverage
  • Metrics are based on quality

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science in Nursing OR Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current Licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas State Medical Board 
  • Valid DEA license
  • 1+ year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant
  • Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare-aged patient population
  • Ability to work nights on a regular basis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency 
  • A working understanding and support of a managed care environment
