Do you have an idea on how to improve patient care in your work setting that you would like to develop further? Would you like to present your project’s results at the TxCNS Symposium or a national meeting? If so, the TxCNS Nursing Grant is designed for you.
The TxCNS is pleased to announce our Research/Evidence-based Practice (EBP)/Quality Improvement (QI) Nursing Grant. One-year awards will be funded at up to $750 each. The awards are open to active members of the TxCNS organization who hold an active CNS license in the state of Texas or are CNS students in the state of Texas.
PURPOSE
In alignment with the TxCNS mission and vision, the purpose of the award is to promote and financially support projects that focus on the improvement of patient care, safety, health outcomes, health system processes, or educational processes and outcomes.
ELIGIBILITY AND ASSISTANCE
- Applicant(s) must hold a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) licensure in the state of Texas or be a CNS student in the state of Texas.
- Applicant(s) must also be a current member of TxCNS.

Application Limit:
- Each CNS or CNS student may submit only one application.

Participant Limit:
- Each applicant(s) must name a primary investigator CNS.
Of note, there is no limit on the number of CNSs who may be co-investigators to assist with the project.
- Mentor Requirement:
CNS students are required to identify the following:
- Clinical Faculty Mentor: Faculty member who is actively involved & practicing in the clinical area relevant to your project, who agrees to support your project
- Research Faculty Mentor: Faculty member with research experience who is actively involved in the proposed research project. This can be the same individual identified as the Clinical Faculty mentor if they are willing and able to do so.
Funds
The funds may be used for any project-related expense such as supplies and/or equipment clerical assistance, travel expenses, publications costs, statistical help, travel and costs related to a presentation at a conference directly related to the Research EBP and QI project.
A budget with a narrative budget justification must be included in the application package. Research/EBP/QI projects shall be completed within 1 year.
Monies will not be released until a letter of support on organization letterhead is received (i.e., Institutional Review Board [non-human subjects], Committee Chair [i.e., Research and EBP], Director [i.e., APRN, Center for Nursing Research, service line], or nurse manager or administrator of the area where project will be conducted.
